“Rise in the presence of the aged,
show respect for the elderly.”

Leviticus 19:32
What a beautiful weekend it was this past few days as we
celebrated the heritage of our church,
Hopewell Road Church of God of Prophecy.
Sis. Ana Jean Hopkins (our oldest charter member) was present with us
in the service today along with six other beautiful women of God. We honor
these women today as we look back at our heritage and where it began
sixty-nine years ago in a small bush arbor.
(L to R - Vernice Phillips, Jo Rice, Gursie Lee Lambert, Mary Grimes,
Gertrude Smith, Anna Jean Hopkins, Sara Cooley)
We are also honoring two of our precious seniors who are unable to be
with us in service today - Ruth Durrett and Euville Cates.

Our adult choir gave tribute as they sang songs of the past.
Sis. Ruby Roper shared interesting facts about each one as
Sis. Lisa Mojica presented them with flowers and gifts.
Pastor Joey Mojica shared with the congregation how each of these ladies
has enriched his life and the impact they have made on shaping the heritage
Hopewell Road. Every person present had an opportunity
to share their love and appreciation to each one.
What a precious time.
Our Kid's Church Choir shared in song "This Little Light of Mine" as their
held glowing candles to symbolize the light that has shown in the lives
of each of these beautiful saints of God.
To each of these women and to the elderly members of our church,
thank you for your fidelity, example, and prayers!

We thank God for the gifts of the elderly in our midst:
their guidance, and their wisdom.
Our elderly saints can be such a great example and such
great teachers for the young.

Let us always remember them in prayer, and make sure
that we honor them as the Lord commands us.

They remind us that at every stage of life the Lord can ask each of us to contribute what talents we have. The service
of the Gospel has nothing to do with age.
In our culture, old age is not always respected and
esteemed as it should be. The elderly

must never be marginalized or neglected.

The Church (WE) need the wisdom, the example, and the prayers of our elderly brothers and sisters. We are all enriched by
their daily witness to the Gospel.
May our Lord bless them with His grace and peace!
